Educate Girls www.educategirls.ngo) is holistically tackling issues at the root cause of gender inequality in India’s education system. Our comprehensive model reforms government schools through community ownership and reaches up to 90% enrolment, higher attendance and improved learning outcomes for all girls. Founded in 2007, the non-governmental organization has a management and outreach office in Mumbai and operations in Pali, Jalore, Sirohi, Ajmer, Bundi, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Udaipur, and Jhalawar in Rajasthan and Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh. At this period, the organization is set to grow, and expand its reach of services beyond Rajasthan. As such, we have committed to launching interventions in multiple new geographies across India over the coming 3 years.

Strategy

Summary

The Director - Program works with the Executive Director to create the strategic vision of the organization’s programmatic goals and outcomes. The position is also responsible for the creation, management and supervision of all program content, training and quality across Educate Girls geographical locations. The Director - Program serves as liaison between all programs related initiatives and the Executive Director.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Program Design:

  • Develop programmatic strategic plan for Educate Girls. Create and develop program content curriculum and all program related training activities
  • Lead, strategize and manage the entire program vertical and its activities
  • Should be able to suggest, design, develop program content, curriculum for sustainability and program growth
  • Remain up-to-date on all sector developments and government policies and recommend best practises which are relevant to EG’s programme
  • Analyze trends in the program, identify issues, pilot test and recommend solutions
  • Develop high quality concept notes and project reports to be shared with senior management
  • Manage complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth
  • Internal Control Mechanisms:
    • Conduct regular program quality monitoring and assessment of all program training and processes
    • Enhance efficiency & effectiveness of the program projects throughout India including various offices, head office and field
    Team Management:
    • Lead, motivate and support the program team in creating work plans, meeting deadlines and conducting regular reviews/check-ins for the vertical
    • Provide technical inputs to project team on improvement of academic and co-curricular activities in line with approved program guidelines
    • Ensure high quality standards for all documents
    • Lead the standardization of processes, curriculum, OD support as need be
    • Submit program and training quality reports, dashboards and manage performance of program team
    Senior Leadership:
    • To be a part of the senior management team working alongside with the senior management helping with Educate Girls overall strategy and growth
    • Work closely with Executive Director and apprise her of the programmatic aspects of key proposals and projects
    • Represent Educate Girls in various forums as and when designated by the organization
    • Reporting to senior management, the EG board on program statistics and other external stakeholders as need be

Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Post graduate degree in social sciences, development studies, business management or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 12-15 years’ experience in management with demonstrated expertise in program management, implementation, strategic thinking and team management
  • Expert in program strategy, design & quality
  • Experience in designing programs, developing content material and prior experience of working in community
  • Strong communication skills, content and verbal
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to work with people from varied backgrounds and levels
  • Sensitive to issues of gender equality
  • Community mobilisation / Education experience preferred
